Undead Rising (DVD)

Capable of symbolizing everything from political turmoil to the fear of mortality, zombies continue to hold metaphoric sway in the world of horror cinema. This collection presents a trio of vintage films revolving around those endlessly terrifying but fascinating legions of the undead: in REVOLT OF THE ZOMBIES (1936), underpaid Cambodian zombies do a colonial madman`s bidding in the ancient temples and jungles of Asia; George Romero`s superlative NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968) finds a group of human survivors stranded in a Pennsylvania farmhouse while fending off the relentless attacks of reanimated corpses seeking to eat their flesh; and HARD ROCK ZOMBIES (1984) ends the proceedings with a campy touch as four dead rock musicians rise from the grave and perform the concert they were scheduled to play before being murdered by a strange woman and her equally unusual family.
