In her last film, Tallulah Bankhead portrays fanatically religious Mrs. Trefoile, a psychotic woman who, with the help of her gardener (Donald Sutherland), imprisons her dead son's fiancee (Stephanie Powers) in a tiny room in her home so that the girl's soul will be properly cleansed in order to be reunited with her dead husband in heaven. Legendary British studio Hammer produced a script by Richard Matheson, based on the novel by Anne Blaisdell.
