The owners of a strip club called Body Parts discover that someone has been paying too much attention to the name of their establishment when some of their strippers are savagely murdered. Once the police turn up to investigate, the plot descends into a mindless orgy of sex and violence, with many familiar staples of the slasher movie emerging--but this is no post modern SCREAM-style affair; BODY PARTS was one of the original 1980s slasher films that helped the genre establish its name.

Astonishingly prolific (with over 150 titles to his name) Spanish exploitation filmmaker Jess Franco directs GOLDEN TEMPLE AMAZONS. The film stars Alice Arno and Lina Romay, two of the oft-naked actresses who were part of Franco's stable of actors in the 1970s. A group of cruel Amazons lurks deep in the jungle, discovered by a family of explorers. Fearful that the explorers might tell the world of their great wealth, the Amazons murder the older explorers but spare their daughter, who they raise as one of their own. But when the daughter, Liana, grows up and discovers her parentage, she decides to take bloody revenge on the leaders of the Amazon tribe. A mobster hits on a plan while smuggling a deposed general and a fortune in gold out of Cuba on his yacht: He and his crew will scare the general and kill his guards by faking the attacks of a sea monster and thus keep the gold for themselves. Unfortunately, a sea monster actually is attacking them, leading to all sorts of complications. Eventually the yacht sinks, and the survivors find love on a tropical island--and death when they dive to recover the sunken loot. Roger Corman shot this fun quickie in Puerto Rico, where he also filmed THE LAST WOMAN ON EARTH with the same cast, which is deadpan perfect: Paul Carbone is the mobster, Renzo, the most trustworthy man ever to be deported from Sicily. Future CHINATOWN-scribe Robert Towne (billed as Edward Wain) plays Agent XK150. Betsy Jones-Moreland is Renzo's leggy pistol-packing moll; she also sings the haunting theme song. Beach Dickerson plays one of Renzo's happy thugs, as well as the monster.
