When five average Joes from Long Island come across a great rental property in upstate New York, they think they`ve found the perfect spot for a much anticipated bow-hunting trip. But when their hosts reveal themselves to be blood-thirsty cannibals, the men realize they are going to be the ones being hunted. As the principal organizer of the trip, Steve feels a responsibility toward his friends, and engages in a desperate battle to get them out alive, enlisting the help (and psychological baggage) of his friend and Vietnam vet Frank.

This ultra low budget horror film, a drive-in favorite in the early 1970s, is a fast paced shocker that is part REPULSION and part TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. In it, three small time crooks who are looking for a place to hideout after a crime spree happen upon a deserted looking farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. Inside, they find a young girl named Lisa who cares for her invalid grandfather. Pleased that they will have a young woman to push around, the three criminals set up shop and order Lisa to cook them some food. What the three crooks don't know, however, is that Lisa is a near psychotic young woman who regularly hallucinates and whose pent up rage is about to boil over. Director Stuart Gordon delivers another chilling tale with CASTLE FREAK. A dysfunctional American family learns that they have inherited a 12th-century Italian castle and travels to visit it. As soon as they arrive, strange things start happening--bizarre noises come from deep within the castle, and objects turn up mysterously broken. The family's blind daughter begins telling stories of someone visiting her room at night. When two bodies are found in the dungeon savagely murdered, the family must unlock the castle's evil past in order to save themselves from a similar fate. Dispensing his usual 50/50 mix of horror and comedy, Gordon makes this an out-and-out horror film complete with monsters, old castles, and plenty of bumps in the night. In Gore Verbinski's remake of Hideo Nakata's chilling horror film, a group of teenagers all die suddenly and inexplicably exactly one week after watching a mysterious videotape at a remote cabin in the Pacific Northwest. Journalist Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts), a relative of one of the victims, begins an investigation that leads to a mountain resort where she discovers the tape, which contains footage of random and surreal images. After viewing the tape, Rachel receives a phone call stating that she, too, has seven days left to live. As the clock ticks away, Rachel enlists the help of her former boyfriend, Noah (Martin Henderson), who is the father of her startlingly serious young son, Aidan (David Dorfman). Assisted by the intuitive illustrations of Aidan and the initially reluctant research of Noah, Rachel attempts to discover the significance of the cryptic tape before her time is up.The original RING, based on a novel by Koji Suzuki, was a cult phenomenon in Japan, spawning a sequel, a prequel, and other spin-offs. Although Verbinski's adaptation shares much in common with its Japanese counterpart, the director distinctly alters numerous plot elements and, in grandiose Hollywood style, employs a much larger budget. The beautiful cinematography is one of the more telling enhancements, along with added screen time for other characters, including the morose Richard Morgan (Brian Cox). However, the key to this RING is Watts, who shines through the creepy atmosphere in a role that follows her success in MULHOLLAND DRIVE. This would appear to be no coincidence, since the film comes across like a David Lynch version of an X-FILES episode that presents shockingly scary moments and makes the most out of the unknown. A clear cut above most contemporary horror films, THE RING offers genuine chills and will make viewers think twice before watching any unmarked videotapes.

Six ordinary people (student, ex-con, engineer, social worker, cop, mentally handicapped) are trapped in a maze of interlocking cubes with no apparent way out. They have no recollection of how they got there or why they were chosen. They have no food or water and upon further investigation discover some of the rooms are booby trapped with creative devices of destruction. After the initial panic, they come to realize that each person possesses a unique ability which may aid in their safe navigation through the rooms and a possible escape. Can they overcome personal conflict and work together?
